WANT TO BECOME THE CHAIR OF THE BOARD FOR THE MYCOALITION?

We are seeking an experienced, devoted, and wise Chair with a sincere passion for supporting holistic ecosystems of communities working with psychedelic plants, mushrooms, and medicine allies to become our next Chair.

As Chair of The Mycoalition you’ll deliberate, vote, and guide the organization to help make sure we achieve our mission, remain in integrity, and co-create a holistic and effective ecosystem.

The primary function of the Board Chair is to develop and nurture a vibrant, engaged, board that serves synergistically in guiding and supporting The Mycoalition’s staff in achieving our mission.

  • Have the opportunity for stipends, small contracts, and creative compensation

Ideally, You Have:

  • An undergraduate degree, master’s degree, and/or significant experience in leadership, community organizing, and/or nonprofit management/development
  • Have experience on a board and have served as a Board Chair before
  • Significant experience working in transformative justice, ecological justice, and/or healing justice spaces within a diverse community networks
  • Strong experiential knowledge of the psychedelic field and the emerging psychedelic movement
  • Embody anti-oppression and a commitment to practicing solidarity towards abolishing patterns/systems of oppression
  • Are well organized, proactive, and reliable
  • Commitment to consistent, effective, prompt communication
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and strategic directions
  • An understanding of, and experience with, good financial management and reporting practices
  • An ability to commit to the time required to fulfill the responsibilities described (15-20 hours per month)
  • A deep passion for the psychedelic movement, healing/transformative justice, and supporting a future with psychedelics that’s rooted in people power and ecological justice


Your Responsibilities:

  • Set up regular Board meetings that are collaborative and magical
  • Nurture Board evolution and succession planning
  • Mediate personality or cultural conflict among Board members or between Board and staff as needed
  • Prepare meeting packet and agenda for each meeting
  • Keep Board members informed of crucial info, especially pertaining to Board duties
  • Appoint committees and committee chairs
  • Assist in recruitment and orientation of new Board Members
  • Serve as primary contact for Board
  • Supporting ED in developing and implementing strategic plan
  • Establish and nurturing key relationships 
  • Foster a Board culture that embodies The Mycoalition’s ethos and overall culture
  • Co-create Board fundraising goals and hold the Board accountable towards those goals
  • Create and implement Board and ED evaluation processes
  • Support the staff in developing programs, budgets, and strategic plan
  • Responsibilities will likely take about 15 hours a month
  • This includes operational tasks, relationship management, fundraising and strategic support with the ED
